Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) Guides

How To Join Group Stretching + Complete Rewards List

Group Stretching is a new exercise activity in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) with Version 2.0 allowing you to work out with your villagers! Learn how to access Group Stretching, and see all of the exclusive items you can unlock in this guide.

Newly introduced in the massive Version 2.0 Update released on November 3rd, you’ll need to have your copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons fully updated to experience this feature.

How To Play Group Stretching

To begin participating in the new Group Stretching exercise activity inside Animal Crossing: New Horizons, just head over to Resident Services and look for a Tape Deck item sitting outside by the door!

At any time of the day, even during the wee hours of the morning, you can interact with the Tape Deck to begin Group Stretching.

When you begin Group Stretching at Resident Services, there are two different choices for how you exercise with your villagers: Buttons and Motion.

With the Buttons option during Group Stretching, you can easily participate in the activity without any push to actually exercise — simply press your controller buttons as directed on the screen.

On the other hand, the Motion option in Group Stretching gives you directions to move your controller around in real-life to replicate the directions shown on screen.

No matter which exercise option you choose though, it’s worth noting that there is no rating or assessment done based on your skills. In other words, if you don’t actually want to properly participate, nobody is going to stop you. It’s on the honour system!

Group Stretching Rewards

The Group Stretching event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t only for fun and games — you can earn multiple different exclusive rewards and prizes for your participation too! There are three different types of rewards you can get:

  • Receive special exercise themed items in your mailbox.
  • Unlock unique exercise themed Reactions for your character.
  • Earn Nook Miles from the ‘Stretch to Refresh!’ achievement category.

In the sections below, we’ll cover all of the item and reaction prizes you can earn from Group Stretching. Note that these prizes are unlocked based on the unique days that you participate in the activity — you can’t ‘cheat’ the system by repeatedly using the Tape Deck many times within a single in-game day.

And to state the obvious, rewards that are delivered by mail will not arrive on the same day as you complete the required number of Group Stretching activities. Check your mailbox on the next morning for your prize!
