Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) Guides

How To Find & Get Pearls For Crafting or Selling

Pearls are a rare crafting material in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) used to craft Mermaid Set furniture items! Learn the best ways to get Pearls in this guide.

Get Pearls While Diving For Sea Creatures

The primary way you can get Pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is by swimming in your surrounding ocean and diving deep underwater for Sea Creatures using a Wet Suit.

While the Pearl is not officially considered a Sea Creature since you can’t donate one to the Museum or collect it in your Critterpedia, they are obtained in the same manner.

How To Spot Pearl Bubbles & Shadows

There’s no way to guarantee catching a Pearl, but there are a few simple tips you can follow to help spot one when you’re swimming and diving for Sea Cratures.

For starters, the shadow of a Pearl is relatively small and will never move. But the best way to spot Pearls is to keep an eye on the bubble behavior of creatures in the sea!

Specifically, we’ve found that the Pearl always has a relatively low amount of bubbles rising from the sea floor and in a mostly straight pattern upwards. The bubbles for Pearls don’t seem to wildly wave from side to side, like some other Sea Creatures do.

Trade For Pearls From Pascal

In addition to getting new Mermaid Furniture DIY Crafting Recipes and Mermaid Clothing items from Pascal when you find a Scallop, there’s a chance of receiving a Pearl instead!

There doesn’t appear to be any way to control exactly what Pascal will give you, but make sure to hunt down Scallops every day until you find him once for a chance at getting a free Pearl.

If you’re willing to time travel, repeatedly finding Pascal every day and hoping for a Pearl for him might be the fastest way to get Pearls. It’ll be relatively slow due to the random chance, but likely more reliable than diving.

Craft The Mermaid Furniture Set Using Pearls

The only use for Perals in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, besides selling them, is crafting Mermaid Set furniture items with DIY Crafting Recipes given to you by Pascal. There’s 14 different Mermaid items to craft with Pearls!

By the way, if you want to craft every furniture item in the Mermaid Set, you’ll need to collect 20 Pearls in total. Keep that number in mind!

Sell Pearls At Nook’s Cranny

If you don’t care at all about crafting the Mermaid furniture or have crafted them all, you can also choose to sell them to Timmy & Tommy. Pearls sell for 10,000 Bells each at Nook’s Cranny.

However, since the Mermaid furniture is quite highly sought after and Pearls are hard to find, you may have better luck selling them for a higher price to your friends or other players online!

No Pearl Museum Donations

Despite being found while diving in the ocean like Sea Cratures, the Pearl is not officially considered a Sea Creature, so you can’t donate one to the Museum or collect it in your Critterpedia.
