Bunny Day 2021 Event Starts Today — Everything New This Year In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

2 years ago 11 Comments

The 2021 edition of the Bunny Day holiday event has officially begun in Animal Crossing: New Horizons today with new fun for both new players and veterans players alike!

Simiarly to last year, the Bunny Day Event started in Animal Crossing: New Horizons about a week prior to Easter on March 28th, 2021 with Easter Eggs now hidden across your island in trees, water, balloons, rocks, and dig spots.

Those hidden eggs can be collected to craft special Bunny Day event items using DIY crafting recipes learned from picking up eggs, shooting down balloons, opening egg bottles, and more.

You’ll also be able to meet the Bunny Day event host, Zipper T. Bunny, in a random location on your island and talk to him to learn the Bunny Day Bed recipe.

Later, after a week of preparation to collect Easter Eggs for the big day, Zipper T. Bunny will return to Animal Crossing: New Horizons on April 4th, 2021 for the actual Bunny Day held on Easter. Find him near Resident Services.

Zipper T. Bunny will offer a few extra recipes and items only available on April 4th, plus give you a final opportunity to collect all of the Bunny Day items.

Animal Crossing players certainly had mixed feelings on this intrusion into their islands during the 2020 edition of this event, so much that Nintendo actually released an update reducing egg spawn rates half-way through. So it shouldn’t be quite so bad this year if you experienced the mayhem from the very beginning last year.

Bunny Day 2021: New Items, Egg Trading, Shorter Event

So what about veteran players who already experienced the first edition of Bunny Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons last year? Lucky, there have been a few changes made for 2021 to improve the experience and give those fans something new to enjoy!

First, we’re happy to report that the full event period of Bunny Day in 2021 has been reduced to only about a week, down from the 10 days of egg hell seen last time — thank god. It seems the Animal Crossing developers have certainly heard our feedback.

But what about new event items or recipes to collect? Though past Animal Crossing games never had an expectation of new content in each year’s events, times have certainly changed in the gaming world since then and fans always want more.

We’ve got some egg-cellent news on that front — five brand new Bunny Day items are now available for the 2021 version of Bunny Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

All five of the new Bunny Day items for 2021 are sold for Bells exclusively in the seasonal slot of Nook’s Cranny when upgraded, similarly to the Festivale event hosted in February. They’re available now running from March 28th, 2021 until the day of Bunny Day on April 4th, 2021.

However, there haven’t been any new Bunny Day DIY crafting recipes introduced for 2021’s version of this event. Of course, last year’s recipes will still be available once again in special Bunny Day balloon presents flying across the sky for those who missed them before.

Another small change in the 2021 version of Bunny Day includes a new ability to get and trade Easter eggs from your villagers, just in case there weren’t already enough ways to collect them, but there’s not much different beyond that this year.

Unlock Bunny Day Event With Version 1.9.0a or b

Not seeing any Bunny Day festivities on your island, including Easter Eggs and a wandering Zipper T. Bunny?

Experiencing the 2020 version of Bunny Day requires your copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons to be on Version 1.9.0a or Version 1.9.0b, with the letter being the important part. This is show on the game’s title screen.

These versions can be only be unlocked after booting up the game with an internet connection and linked Nintendo Account. Make sure you meet these conditions and restart your game to ensure Bunny Day begins promptly.

Version 1.9.0a unlocks the first ‘phase’ of Bunny Day with eggs appearing and the first visit from Zipper T. Bunny, while Version 1.9.0b unlocks the final phase on April 4th when the bunny returns for a second visit.
