2 years ago 11 Comments

The Animal Crossing Direct has just concluded with an impressive showing of new characters and features to enjoy in the upcoming Version 2.0 Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons releasing this November!

This is a work-in-progress article that will be continually updated with more features and details throughout the day covering everything we learned about this update.

With so much new content covered during the Animal Crossing Direct, here’s a high-level summary of the main new features and characters you can experience with the Version 2.0 Update in November.

Brewster & The Roost

After completing a favor for Blathers, returning character Brewster will open The Roost at the Museum! While in the cafe, you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee and even run into some of your island’s residents for a chat.

If you’re after a chat with a particular character, you can even use the new Amiibo Phone inside of The Roost to invite anyone you wish using a compatible amiibo card!

Kapp’n Arrives At Pier With New Flora

The pier found in the bottom left or right of your island finally has a purpose with the return of Kapp’n offering boat tours!

Hop aboard his boat from your pier to enjoy a ride to new mysterious islands that are different than the ones previously visited from Dodo Airlines’ Airport tours.

On these new islands led by Kapp’n, you’ll find brand new flora including what appears to be Vines and a new type of bush! Islands in different seasons and times of the day can be discovered as well.

New Shops At Harvey’s Island

Harvey’s Island is getting a huge expansion in Version 2.0 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons adding an entire plaza to build behind the Photo Studio!

By contributing Bells, you can help contribute to many different permeant shops by merchants and more who previously visited your island, plus brand new faces.

Past visitors such as Saharah, Kicks, Leif, and even Jolly Redd can all setup their own shops at the Open Market with enough Bells.

And that’s not all — some characters like Reese & Cyrus, Katrina, Harriet, and even Tortimer will open their services for the very first time!

Dig & Collect Gyroids

Tired of digging up the same fossils over and over? With Version 2.0 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can now discover and unearth new Gyroid furniture items from the ground!

These quirky little items play unique sounds adding a fun charm to your room or island, and can even be customized to change their appearance.

Cooking Recipes & Growing Vegetables

Dozens of new Cooking DIY crafting recipes are coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in Version 2.0!

By growing and harvesting new vegetables on your island like wheat, sugarcane, carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes, these fresh ingredients can be used to craft the new Cooking DIYs.

More Bridges & Inclines

With the new Pro Construction License purchased with Nook Miles in Version 2.0, the maximum amount of Bridges & Inclines allowed on your island can increase by two each!

Now you’ll be able to build up to 10 Bridges and 10 Inclines throughout your island, helping to alleviate a constraint that many Animal Crossing players have struggled with.

More Storage Than Ever Before

Another common complaint in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting a fix with the Version 2.0 update — your storage space!

There are now three more further expansions available to your home’s storage space bringing the maximum amount of stored items up to a whopping 5,000 spaces.

Plus, a new Storage Shed item allows you to access that storage from almost anywhere outdoors while you’re working away on a project.

New K.K. Slider Songs & Music Boxes

A selection of 12 new K.K. Slider songs are coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons with Version 2.0 including K.K. Break and K.K. Polka!

Even better, new music box furniture items can be collected to play your favorite K.K. Slider songs in new ways.

Island Ordinances

Ordinances from Animal Crossing: New Leaf are making a return in Version 2.0 with four Island Ordinances to choose from:

  • Beautiful Island
  • Early Bird
  • Night Owl
  • Bell Boom
