Get Spooky Set DIY Crafting Recipes From Villagers, Balloons, Bottles

Besides purchasing Spooky Set items directly from Nook’s Cranny in October, you can also get Spooky Set DIY Crafting Recipes from villagers crafting in their homes, balloon presents in the sky, and message bottles on the beach. Gifting villagers Candy on October 31st’s Halloween Night event can earn these rewards too.

These recipes generally allow you to craft the same items that are purchasable from Nook’s Cranny, but there are two notable exceptions that cannot be obtained from Nook’s Cranny:

  • The Spooky Fence can only be crafted at a crafting workbench.
  • The Spooky Cookies (new in 2021) can only be cooked at a cooking station.

From our research and contributors in the comments, we can confirm that the Spooky Set DIY Crafting Recipes are not specific to villager personalities.

In addition to the Spooky Set items covered in the two sections above that can be obtained from Nook’s Cranny and villagers found crafting, there is an extra set of Spooky Set items that can only be earned during the Halloween Night event held on October 31st starting at 5PM.

How To Customize Spooky Set Items With Pumpkins

Orange Pumpkins are by far the most common type of pumpkin and are used to craft Spooky Set items for the first time. However, after having been crafted, most Spooky Set furniture items can be customized further into another color by using a DIY Workbench.

By using Yellow, White, and Green Pumpkins at a DIY Workbench, you can change the color of these items. These types of pumpkins are produced more rarely than Orange Pumpkins from farming Pumpkin Starts though.

How To Get Pumpkin Crafting Materials

To craft the Spooky Set of furniture and items, you need to grow and collect the Pumpkins required as crafting materials. You can purchase Pumpkin Starts to begin growing these new vegetables from Leif year-round, or from Nook’s Cranny during the month of October.

Once you have some Pumpkin Starts, you can begin farming by planting them in the ground somewhere on your island and water them every day to produce the best harvest after they finish growing. For more on how to grow and harvest Pumpkins, check out our complete farming guide here.

There are four different types of Pumpkins to grow, harvest, and use as crafting materials in Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Orange, Yellow, White, and Green.
