How To Get Friend Powder and What To Spend It On

While the other main materials in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp like Wood and Steel are fairly obvious, it can be a bit of a mystery of how to get the Friend Powder resource or what to spend it on.

How to Get Friend Powder

There are five main ways to get Friend Powder in Pocket Camp and none of them are at all difficult, it just takes some time and patience.

Help Your Friends Enter Shovelstrike Quarry

The most reliable and repeatable method to farming Friend Powder is dead simple: just help your friends enter the Shovelstrike Quarry every day! In order to enter, your friends need help from 5 people and you can be one of them.

You’ll earn 1 Friend Powder for every friend you help, up to ten friends per day. That’s not bad at all for doing almost nothing and something can be repeated often.

This method is relatively new and was only added in an update to Pocket Camp in July 2019.

Water Your Friends’ Gardens

One easy and simple way to get Friend Powder is just to keep visiting your friends’ gardens and watering their flowers whenever possible. With recent updates, it’s super easy too right from the friends menu. There’s no need to actually visit and load their campsite, just use the shortcuts in the menu.

You will always receive 1 Friend Powder for helping water a friend’s garden, up to five times within a 3 hour period of time. You can can only water a particular friend’s garden every 3 hours.

Share Gardening Event Creatures with Friends

When a gardening event is currently happening, it’s by far the best time to stock up on Friend Powder! Just by sharing event creatures, which you should be doing anyway to finish the event faster, you’ll get lots of friend powder every time.

Complete Daily Goals on Saturdays

Another way to pick up a few Friend Powder throughout the week is to hit up the Daily Goals every Saturday. On these days only, you’ll find a prize of 2 Friend Powder on the second page of goals.

You can access and view your Daily Goals by tapping the Isabelle icon in the top right of the screen.

Enter Shovelstrike Quarry Yourself

One final method to obtain Friend Powder is to check on the Shovelstrike Quarry frequently and hop in if you spot Friend Powder currently available. The quarry changes what reward is available twice per day — once at the start of a new day and again after 12 hours.

You can get into the quarry either for free by getting help from 5 friends, or by paying a fee of 20 Leaf Tickets. It’s only possible to enter the quarry for free once per day but you can enter a second time by paying the fee.

What do you use Friend Powder for?

There is a small set of about 25 items that require Friend Powder material to craft, but it doesn’t stop there. If you have a large amount of excess Friend Powder, there’s two other good uses we recommend.

Play Brake Tapper

Hidden at the infrequently visited OK Motors location in the top right of Pocket Camp’s map is a special game called Brake Tappers. Playing the Brake Tapper game requires spending 3 Friend Powder for every play, so it doesn’t take long to burn through your resources playing it.

Why should you play Brake Tapper? Every time you successfully play a round, the machine will give you Caps. These caps can be traded for a selection of prizes by speaking to Carlo next to the machine.

The rewards available in exchange for Caps range from free crafting materials and essence to completely exclusive Brake Tappers clothing and furniture. You could get your very own golden statue to show off your skills!

Play and Explore Blathers’s Treasure Trek Maps

The other major dump for your stockpile of Friend Powder is to play select treasure maps in Blathers’s Treasure Trek! If you’re not already familiar, Blathers’s Treasure Trek is a boardgame-like feature that can be found by tapping the owl icon above the Marketplace on your map.

Playing a treasure map can help you unlock new rewards, but it always comes at the cost of spending another resource. In the case of Friend Powder, it can be used to play both the regular Bells Map and the special Buncha Bells Map.

This makes friend powder actually very valuable as it can be used as a loop to acquire bells, assuming you have the maps. Pocket Camp gives away bell maps quite frequently in goal rewards though, so you probably have a bunch already!
