Winter Solstice & Summer Solstice Items Return In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Today

This year’s Winter Solstice and Summer Solstice are fast approaching, and many different seasonal holiday items can be picked up for both occasions in Animal Crossing: New Horizons today!

These limited-time Animal Crossing items serve to celebrate the beginning of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and start of Summer in the Southern Hemisphere with the longest and shortest periods of daylight in each part of the world.

For players in the Northern Hemisphere celebrating the Winter Solstice, they can pick up four different items  right now including the Bathtub With Yuzu, Tangyuan, Aurora Wall, and Midwinter Sweater. The first two were added in the Version 2.0 Update released November 2021 if you haven’t played since then.

The more recent Bathtub With Yuzu item is sure to delight fans with a relaxing aromatic Japanese inspired bath in their winter homes, and the Aurora Wall is arguably one of the most beautiful wallpapers in Animal Crossing: Ne Horizons — make sure to get if you missed out before!

On the other side, players in the Southern Hemisphere celebrating the Summer Solstice can purchase four unique items right now: Maypole, Sunflower Sunglasses, Sunflower Crown, and Sunflower Rug. Again, the first two items were added in November 2021’s Version 2.0 Update.

In particular, the Maypole item is certain to be an Animal Crossing fan favorite with its impressively tall height covered in garland and flowers!

All of these Animal Crossing: New Horizons seasonal items can be purchased in the Special Goods section of Nook Shopping from December 15th to 22nd, with the appropriate items available for your island’s hemisphere.

Here’s the official descriptions for the Winter Solstice shopping event items:

Midwinter Sweater: The winter solstice is the day with the least daylight all year. Put on this sweater to send chilly Old Man Winter running!

Aurora Wall: The winter solstice is the day with the least daylight all year. This wallpaper depicts that mystical shining light of clear winter skies, the aurora borealis. It’s so magical that you’ll forget how cold it is outside!

Bathtub With Yuzu: The winter solstice is the day with the least daylight all year. In Japan, one might take a bath with yuzu on this day to avoid catching a cold. Yuzu is an aromatic citrus fruit with a strong but relaxing scent.

Tangyuan: The winter solstice is the day with the least daylight all year. In China, people often enjoy tangyuan, a clear, sweet soup mode of rice-flour dumplings, to celebrate this day.

And the second set of official descriptions from Nintendo for the Summer Solstice shopping event:

Sunflower Crown: The summer solstice is the day with the most daylight all year. Wear this sunflower crown under the never-setting sun and maybe your crush will notice you!

Sunflower Rug: The summer solstice is the day with the most daylight all year. But every day is sure to feel sunny and bright with this sunflower-motif rug around!

Sunflower Sunglasses: The summer solstice is the day with the most daylight all year. Wear these sunflower sunglasses to get a jump on that summer feeling!

Maypole: The summer solstice is the day with the most daylight all year. In Europe, some people might celebrate by joining hands and dancing around a maypole, a wooden pole decorated with garlands and seasonal flowers.
