Updated Version 2.0 Animal Crossing: New Horizons Guide Revealed, Brings Final Nail To ACNH’s Coffin [Pre-Order]

Look out Animal Crossing collectors — an unexpected new collector’s item for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is headed your way later this spring courtesy of gaming guide publisher Future Press!

Revealed for the first time today, Future Press is publishing an upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Complete Guide book in April 2023. This new guide will serve as an update to the previously released Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Companion Guide that launched shortly after the game back in April 2020.

We found the original Companion Guide published by Future Press in 2020 to be solid with a fantastic presentation and fairly comprehensive information, but it became sorely out of date before most readers even laid their hands on it thanks to Nintendo’s update strategy and much content missing at launch.

With the release of this new complete guide in 2023 though, all content introduced since launch will be covered including new features, new characters, seasonal holiday events, the Happy Home Paradise DLC expansion, and the complete Version 2.0 item catalog!

In terms of how much guide book content all of these additions add up to, the new Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Complete Guide is confirmed at 688 pages long, in contrast to the original guide’s 432 pages. Page count isn’t exactly the best metric, but it’ll give you some idea of what to expect.

Particularly notable for collectors, the latest Official Complete Guide will be published in a hardcover format, in contrast to the original guide’s paperback presentation. Given the untimely release so long after Version 2.0 launched, it seems Future Press might be aiming more for the collectors angle, and they might just get a sale from me on that basis!

From a collection point of view, it’ll be interesting as well to refer to both the original version of the guide and this year’s updated version as a point of comparison for just how much Animal Crossing: New Horizons evolved from Version 1.0 to 2.0 over the course of two years.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Complete Guide for Version 2.0 is currently available for pre-order at Amazon US for $54.41 USD, Amazon Canada for $74.99 CAD, and Amazon UK for £44.99. It’s scheduled for release sometime during April 2023.

Of course, if you somehow were still holding out hope for an unexpected revival to Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a surprise update from Nintendo, it’s safe to say this guide announcement will serve as another nail in the coffin for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Not that you, me, or anyone else ever should have expected such a revival to begin with given that Nintendo explicitly outlined a long time ago that there would be no future major content updates or DLC released… but seeing a final ‘complete’ guide released certainly drives the point home, doesn’t it?
